All we say regarding language in the forum rules is "Use clean and respectful language. No nudity or other vulgarity." - which is deliberately vague. I have no interest in policing everyone's language like some annoying schoolteacher - but there's a rule that's vaguely worded enough to let us do so if someone's being particularly repulsive. There's plenty of bad language on the forum because it's generally not policed. Also:
Or what is considered completely acceptable in American English is a bad word in Kiwi English.
...and vice-versa - there's a good chance people have said things on the forum which would be taken as highly offensive by Americans which have completely gone over my head. This is all relative and changes from country to country and from generation to generation.

But we should be striving to be respectful, and @steve has every right to politely suggest that a higher standard would be desirable.

And.... talk above proves why West is going down.

I understand that some people here want 100% clean language. But reaction of people here proves that West is infected with too much politeness. Think, any leftist idea is associated with politeness.

Elite is selling you that supporting lockdowns, mask, vaccines, LQB++++++++ etc.. is being polite. What they don't want is being scorned, made fun and bring treated as idiots. Why? Because all this destroys their social status. And nobody obeys at-the-bottom-of-social-status-pyramid people.

So politeness is in a way toll of social control. We need to bring back insults which works precisely because they destroy social status of recepient. Which is why all insults are offensive and hurtful. And which is reason why they work.

Think a little. What is better way to drive out cowardice from male teenager than calling him chicken and, even better, p*s*y? Will this motivate him to improve his behaviour? Yes. Which male was reputation of being cowardly woman? None.

Did you notice that leftist like name-calling and love social status destruction? They use these tactics because they....work.

What makes me sad is that warmongers have too much status. I believe that if Milosevic was made laughting stock war in ex-Yugoslavia would be avoided. Same with Neocons in USA and Britain now before things escalate to nuclear war.

Such people need behaviour correction and we should provide them. Same as Jesus and John Baptist did with Pharisees.

This tells me a lot about you.

This tells me a lot about you.
Your answer also reveals things about you which you probably don't like.

What is more important? Being polite or telling truth and disabling your enemies?

People of this forum, I have question for you. Think before answering. If you are candidate for political office and your opponent is viper, would you publically call him viper? Would you publically tell truth?

This situation also reveal lack of interest in learning from recent history. Practically everybody here was dissent against covid regime. And what was most powerful weapon of anticommunist dissents in Eastern Europe? Ridicule.

Regime can survive is being called incompetent because population thinks good-mannered and caring rulers will eventually figure out proper way. This mindset enables regime to be truly diabolical towards it's population.

What they can't survive is being called idiots/evil because normal people aren't suicidal which following idiots/evil people tends to produce. It was meme meisters who did huge contribution to breaking back of covid tyranny. Thanks to them population started to break covid measures which forced elite to remove measures before population starts to enjoy disobedience too much.

I remember people on this forum ridiculing elite and calling them evil during covid-show. Recently I had called them a$$holes, word less damaging than evil, and your first instict is "watch your language". Isn't this a little hypocritical? We already called bad people bad, why stop now?

I haven't seen a new thread on this yet, if I missed it, please point it out.

1. There are a million more reasons why the west is going down than politeness.

2. What is being called politeness on the left is actually manipulation.

3. We don't need insults, we need shame. Insults usually produce anger or escalation. Shame produces results such as repentance or withdrawal.

4. Insults tend to cause more negative behavior correction, shame tends to cause more positive behavior change.

5. Leftists (and various others) resort to name calling and insults because their actual arguments cannot be proven or explained. Their circular reasoning as to why insults and other leftist ideology works is because "they work". To these idealists, the results justify any means it takes to get there.

John Adams said "Our constitution [to which I add, the first amendment] will only work for a moral and religious people. It will not work for any other." THIS is why the west, and America in particular, is snowballing downhill.

From my experience, any argument for the right to use any language necessary (including insults) to accomplish the desired goal is simply an argument to justify a lack of either ability, or willingness, to exercise restraint and self control...which BTW, appear in the list of fruits of the Spirit.

There's also:
Luke 6:27-36
Matthew 7:12

Not new but this one does exist and would be a good springboard for this discussion. I covered multiple facets in my opening post, including the influence of the Puritans that led you and others to your position today.

From the etymological history:

ass-hole, also asshole, 20c., perhaps 1880s, American English variant of arsehole (also see ass (n.2)). Meaning "contemptible person" is from mid-1930s. Earlier the word was a Northern English and Scottish dialectal variant of ash-hole "receptacle for ashes beneath a grate." Wright's "English Dialect Dictionary" (1898) lists many examples, such as, "Tell'd her a hunderd times nivver to put t'poaker i' t'ass-hoil" [West Yorkshire].

Would it have appeased your conscience if @MemeFan had said ash-hole instead? Stop clutching your pearls and grabbing pitchforks. One man's vulgar is another man's vernacular. But, if your conscience is weak in this particular matter, then don't let those syllables come out of your mouth, because for you it is sin.

I stick by the words of those two Bible references. You go ahead and stick to your English dictionary. And I don't know anything about Puritans, so if you thought that was insulting...😂

Throwing a flag for harshness on the field.

@FollowingHim we need this in it’s own thread.
I agree, but this conversation is not particularly well constructed as it doesn't begin with a comprehensive explanation of a position to discuss, so is basically just an argument. Could you start a thread with a proper opening post outlining your position on this? I think that would end up more productive than just pulling out the last page or so of comments as a thread.

On the latest UFO "disclosures", Zerohedge summarises the situation very well:
Given the obvious coordination of the UAP disclosures these last few weeks, only two scenarios seem plausible:

  1. either a group of scientists, intelligence operatives, military personnel, legal sharks, and politicians are working together behind the scenes to deliver enough corroborated information to the public to pierce through a near-century of State-imposed secrecy, or
  2. this diverse collection of professionals is part of an elaborate disinformation campaign being used to manipulate public perception and opinion.
In other words, there is either a highly organized attempt to reveal a spectacular yet hidden truth to the rest of humanity, or there is a highly organized attempt to use information warfare as a means to shape the collective consciousness. Either the U.S. government has engaged in a massive conspiracy for nearly a century to hide important truths from its own citizens. Or it is involved in a massive conspiracy today to manipulate Americans' minds en masse. At a time when political leaders love to speak about the virtues of "democracy," either possibility confirms a staggering disrespect for popular sovereignty.
