Please, let’s clean up the language.
It’s not necessary.
Policy or not, I'm in agreement with you.
This is ... bloody ... unbeliveable.

Our enemy, and not just any enemy, but one of their vanguard gets arrested.

And instead of proper celebration 🎆🎆🎆🎆, your first instict is "did I use offending word, he may get offended?.

When you will lose such altitude? Your enemies won't provide such luxury to you. They will try to destroy you, to shame you. When you will lose respect for people with entitlement of commanding and ordering others?

They deserve same respect as child molesters and to be described with same words. When such people lose respect there will far more peace on this planet.

Jesus didn't care if Pharisees got hurt listening Him. Their problem if they can't take truth about themselves. So offending evil people isn't bad, but not always wise.

Evidently I try to live by higher standards than some people do.

Matthew 12:36
There's someone way more important than anyone here who is pretty interested in our choice of words. So no, your attempt at guilt tripping isn't appropriate, nor will it work.
No one said anything about the respect, or lack of, shown to child molesters. But a little respect towards your brothers and sisters in choice of words would be nice.
I, for one, left another Biblical forum because, under the guise of so-called masculinity, some folks were very nasty.

If we have a “zero bad words policy” it should be applied equally. Others here use words like that and haven’t been called out for it. If we must censor, let it be equal.
Honestly, I don't see any censoring going on. It was asked politely that a member CHOOSE a different word, not that any particular words be FORCIBLY REMOVED. Big difference.
There's nothing wrong with standards being applied across the board, but when the head admin says there's nothing wrong with it, then there isn't much to apply.

I think the context of Matthew 12:36 is more serious than just cussing at or around people. But the principle remains. Paul spells it out pretty clearly in Ephesians 5:4. "Moronic" speaking or raunchy humor is out of place in the kingdom.

It is honestly something that I struggle with, having been engrossed in a group where that kind of speech was prevalent for nearly ten years (while I was in my most formative years).

For those of you who were in the military or used to cuss and partake in poor humor, what are some of the best ways you have removed that from your life/vocabulary?

I find the best help for me has been my wife and the want for children. I don't want any of them speaking that way.

When I was at college I had an English teacher that proposed that bad language (swearing) was the result of low intelligence.
The premise was that if you where smarter you would use more precision language to express yourself.
After that lesson the tone improved a little , at least for a short while.
the saying of
“if you don’t say what you mean you will never mean what you say” comes to mind

I just entered a few common naughty words into the search bar on BF... There are pages worth of results. @MemeFan Isn’t even close to the worst offender, just sayin’
So in this instance it was noticed and pointed out. As the cop would say to the guy complaining about getting caught while everyone else was also speeding..."You're just the one who got pulled over."
I'm betting all that was expected was him to fess up and try to do better next time...not get all offended.

Offended? I honestly can’t think of a more appropriate name for the people memefan was referring to 😂

For me it's been the realization that although I am saved, and I am forgiven for everything I confess, I will still have to answer for everything, AND my actions and words count either for or against my rewards.

To my shame I was known as the most foul mouthed guy in the workshop. Then, at 23 years of age, God saved me and He changed my whole life. I immersed myself in reading the Bible and theological books. A wonderful man of God took me under his wing and made me a disciple of Jesus Christ. Change came rapidly and the foul language disappeared with little effort on my part. I thank God for His hand in transforming my life.

You are right, and most of those were probably less excusable than what @MemeFan said. That doesn't change that clearly some brethren here (including me) believe that we ought to keep this forum clean.

Perhaps staff could take this as an opportunity to begin reminding users about the policy on foul language and raunchy humor - assuming a policy exists. If no such policy exists, maybe the forum leadership would be willing to look into implementing one and we can leave it at that.

Any more discussion on this probably warrants a new thread, as we are no longer making "Random Comments".

Someone once called people vipers and children of their father the devil.
Anyone familiar with a jack ass or a female dog might see those terms as just similarly descriptive. I personally think that an anus is way too important and useful to think that it should be applied to our enemies.....men like that banker do way less for us and do far more harm!

This forum exists as a ministry. I would suggest that folks lead by example...rather then try to change others. As a mom I don't want to hear tatting, or children trying to enforce the rules.
Let's leave some of that to the one who can do it best....from within.

Then He gets the glory!

Who decides what a foul word is or a "cuss" word is.

The word "piss" is in the KJV. Would you go around saying that word today?

Who is the arbiter of what a "bad" word is. Society? Christians?

Language and words change. What is considered completely acceptable in British English, may be considered a "bad" word in American English. I think bad words are just a function of what greater society deems "vulgar" for whatever reason. In reality, they are just a bunch of letters put together to make certain sounds. Why are those letters that are put together any worse than any other set of letters put together. Should I be beheld to what society thinks is vulgar. What if in 20 years that word becomes completely acceptable to society, as has been the case with a whole host of other words. Is it now acceptable for me to say them?

Are you not saying them because the general public believes that a "Christian" should not say that word. Why do they get that idea.

Again, who is the arbiter of what is "vulgar" or "bad" and why do they get to decide that and not others.

And by that, you mean dollar signs instead of S’s?
My general policy is to put dollar signs on a forum. I'm fairly lax about saying "cuss" words in the privacy of my home. I generally don't say them in public as to not offend someone and out of deference to people that think a Christian shouldn't say them. There are certain words I do not say ever, as it harms my conscience. For example, I don't take the name of the Lord in a vain or empty way, such as saying "Oh my ____". That actually hurts me when I hear that and I hear it said often. However, lighter so called "cuss" words I do say around my home and I don't really see anything wrong with that.
