Shannon Bream is on FNC right now hosting a show about powerful women in the Bible, and the current segment is telling the story of Rachel and Leah without really criticizing the polygynous nature of Jacob's family.

We might maybe possibly be moving to Texas! Steve is doing a lot of work in Texas and is thinking about moving us. There's a lot of places in the panhandle he says are really cheap and you get a lot for the money. Just not a lot of people want to live there is all. Be nice to be closer to some of you but I'd miss our little valley and the ranch for sure!

Even though our 4 months of time here has been dominated by moving into an apartment, developing pain in one foot and then spraining the other ankle, going through the Big Freeze-Out, having our apartment flooded four times, desperate house-hunting and wrangling with a daughter hell-bent on ripping apart our family, I remain very, very thankful that we moved to Texas in November. I can't think of any better news than that your family would be in the same state. The Panhandle is a pretty good hike from Fort Worth, but I can promise you we'd find a way to meet up with your family. There is some otherworldly interesting terrain up that way, especially on the way to northern New Mexico.

Had my husband home all this week and on Saturday I found out he'd sold our whole herd to a ranch out in Gillette. I'm a bit angry at him right now for not telling me he was selling all of them. He says it was too much to run his business and then come home all the time to run the ranch business too. It's also one more step to moving us and I'm feeling mixed about it just because we have so many roots here even if I'm not so happy with my church right now.

I should add Cydne had her baby on Saturday night. Brayden James is a big boy and is ten pounds eight ounces and 22 inches tall!

Congratulations on the new little/big one in the house!

Congrats!

Congrats on the little big man in the family! I've had a couple over ten lbs....but someone else can have the record!

I understand the shock of a choice already made. Most of us like some degree of constancy, change is uncomfortable. My hubby has talked about selling our business, but after 20+ years into growing this it is almost as strange as adopting out a child to think if giving it up. Just trust that there are good aspects to those changes and don't look back.....much.... remembering ranch days is cool, but there are always those other times you will never miss. For example....milking cows in the rain is a non fun one here.

Enjoy the spring!

Moving cows half way across the country is not fun. Been there done that. And we were moving them north in an amicable climate switch. Cows do not handle moving south near as well. You'll do better with southern stock should he choose to get back into it.

It was a wise move. And the nature of selling things is sometimes you just have to strike while the iron is hot.

This is the place Steve had in mind for us to buy and build a home.

I'm not going with this and we had a major disagreement about this yesterday. Can't write everything in public but I love our home and made up my mind I won't be leaving. I know he's the leader for the family but on this he's going to have to deal with me.

From things you’ve said in the past, your husband sounds like a very intelligent man who has his family’s best interests at heart. It might cause some hardship in the short term, but my advice would be to go with him on this. I think you will reap a tremendous blessing if you do.
Just my two pennies, for what it’s worth :)

These are some strange times. I have had to make some big decisions to put my family in the best possible position to face the hard times ahead. They weren’t easy choices, and they have been a tremendous amount of work, but God is blessing us. And, now on the other side of that move we believe I made the right decision in taking that big step.

Oooh Megan... It's a rough time isn't it? Lots going on. Change sucks. I'm sure you're looking at all the cons, but there are pros to the move, pretty big ones.
I imagine that you're struggling with this because of all the memories you have in your current house, especially ones of Christie. These memories will go with you, even when you move to a new place.
At the end of the day, whether you like it or not, if Steve wants you to move then you will be moving. Your decision is not whether you go or not, but how you choose to feel about it. Your happiness will be based on the choices you make, not on where you're living.
That land looks great btw. Very rural, very isolated. That's a good thing! I would rather a place with more mature large trees, but they can be planted and grown. In this place you're starting from scratch and can build from scratch.

We were running bison and there was no way they were moving to Texas!

You are too clear headed to fall in to this trap. You’re a good woman and will do the right thing in the end. Don’t make things difficult for no reason.

Ya know @MeganC there have been a few times in marriage I have totally felt like "I didn't sign up for this" ....yet even as the thought was formed....I knew I had.

Most marriage vows are closing loopholes or just making sure that enough "quitting circumstances" are covered to shut the notion down and secure the union lasts.

I sure hope you can find some peace in moving forward. I hate cutting roots. Moving at 19 after almost ten years in one place was a shock. I understand.

((Hugs)) to you lady.
