truth may be true or false. Got it!
Not quite. But strong delusion that causes you to be entrenched in the error you were unwilling to let go of....when the truth was presented....will of course leave you thinking and believing a something is true that is not.
It sure never hurts to check yourself.....or consider what supports another position.

With due respect, I see this as exactly the kind of thing a true believer in freedom of speech would say or write. Everyone has different experiences and each person's perspective on truth is going to be based upon what they've experienced. Granted, with liberals they perceive their feelings and emotions to speak to truth while conservatives look to empirical evidence and quantifiable proof as the source of truth.

Still, each person has a right to their perspective.

I run into this often enough when I tell people I am not a fan of urban police. Based upon my own experience too many police act like members of an armed gang, they commit crimes and they all cover for those crimes. They also get outraged if you question their opinions of the law and of your rights and like bullies they're eager to retaliate against you for not kissing their asses, licking their boots, and worshipping their shiny badges.

This opinion of mine is informed by my experiences and it constitutes truth to me.

Yet it's heresy to those who think all law enforcement become infallible demigods like a pope when they take their oath and put on a badge. For those people this viewpoint is truth and they're welcome to it. They're also in for a big disappointment someday when they run afoul of the Thin Blue Line.

Biblical Truth is not always agreed upon. This entire website is a testament to this fact. So I don't want someone else to crown themselves the Prophet of Truth and silence me because I see God expressed in successful poly marriages. I expect this would happen were we to try to post this site and topic on Facebook and we'd be immediately silenced because it doesn't square with the leftist, anti-family, anti-heterosexual, anti-patriarchal ideal of Soviet-style truth.

I prefer to err on the messy side of freedom and liberty and in this much I agree with the statement that, "We believe everyone has the right to speak their mind and speak their truth."

I agree with both you and @FollowingHim, @MeganC. You are being very logical in your approach to articulating that you have truths (or perspectives) about topics that others may see completely differently, because of their very differing experiences. When the progressives use that phrase these days, though, they are not intending to portray that people may have different truths based on their differing experiences. What they are asserting, and I know this from having been immersed in that world (first as an uber leftist, and then working in university student affairs environments), is that every person has a right to declare that anything they are of a mind to articulate or imagine to be truth, outside of any objective or even subjective experience outside of the realms of their own minds. Therefore, when a person with male equipment and no female equipment imagines that he is a woman, that is considered "her truth," not to be challenged in any way whatsoever and despite the fact that it is delusional, because even if the person has always fancied himself to be female, the self-identification may be there, but no objective reality whatsoever is there to provide evidence for it -- unlike your (and many people's) alternative negative experiences with police officers. Currently, for another example, it is very fashionable for black leftists to declare that Euclidian geometry, logic and reasoning are all racist white constructs with no validity behind them. They declare this to be them speaking their truth. Well, they can speak it all they want, but no manner of speaking will change an equilateral triangle to have 3 differing side lengths, or for the use of logic and reasoning to be inferior to unstructured intuition when it comes to many of life's endeavors (like designing an elevator or driving on the highway), and it's not a matter of promoting white supremacy to assert that trying to invalidate the value of logic and reasoning is detrimental any group of people who try to live without them.

So, yes, I'm all for a variety of truth-speaking when one is talking about the many different life experiences people can have related to any particular generalized life event (like running into policemen), but whether 2+2=4 is not a matter of freedom of truths.

Zoom is a nice way to get your visage firmly in China’s face recognition software.

Steve, that is beautiful! Where is that?
I was coming out of Lost Wages (Las Vegas) and stopped to adjust a tarp just prior to the Hoover Dam bypass. That is Lake Mead.

That is concerning. It does seem to be limited to iPhones being used in a specific way, so this vulnerability may be irrelevant to many of us:
Signal’s encrypted messages can be intercepted from iPhone devices when those Apple devices are in a mode called “partial AFU,” which means “after first unlock.”

But if one such vulnerability exists, others may also.

I'm not disagreeing with your opinion on the matter as outlined in detail in your post.

I'm just noting that the term "their truth" is something that is generally said by people of a certain political persuasion. It's like the old Shibboleth test in scripture. Just as you can spot where someone comes from physically by their terminology - if someone says "I'm just after going to the shop" you can be pretty confident that they're from Ireland.

That website was written in a way that clearly suggested it was written by someone on the hard left of politics, potentially an enemy of conservatives, and therefore that is a major red flag. The detail of whether the term is able to be technically used in that way are basically irrelevant as that's not really my point, though I did spend one paragraph ranting about it because it also annoyed me!

Which makes me want to share something that annoys me:

In the last few years people my age and younger are insisting on this weird way of pronouncing words with a 'T' in the middle.

Button is now pronounced as if it is two words: Butt Ton.

Important becomes Impor Tant.

Contact is now Con TacT with an emphasis on the last letter in the word.

It's really strange and I'll plead guilty to mocking anyone who talks like this to me!

Our 16-year-old daughter does this, saying our last name, for example, Mart-Tin.

I am back here for the first time in 70 hours because, at 5am Monday, our power went out here in Fort Worth, and there is no prediction of when it will be coming back on. The water department's power is also off, so everyone's water has to be boiled, which one can't do without power. We have spent the last two nights with our apartment at about 50 degrees, and this afternoon our pipes burst in a bathroom while we were away for about 15 minutes and flooded most of the apartment. Relatively minimal damage, but I had to do a lot of repositioning things. We've been getting to know a Jehovah's Witness neighbor who spent last night with her daughter at our place, and tonight a JW friend of hers offered to put us up at her 1-bedroom apartment -- first shower in 3 days! What a blessing!

Here's what I choose to believe was the Hand of God in this. I had just yesterday left my most valuable Old Testament Bible on the floor, with some other things piled on it. I assumed it would be ruined, but when I bent down to pick it up in the dim light (no power, remember), I saw that the flowing water in that room had parted within a couple inches of reaching the Bible and flowed to either side, then the flows rejoined each other on the other side of the Bible, leaving a 1-2" dry space all the way around it -- it entirely escaped harm.

That is a challenging situation, and what a neat memory to have right in the chaos!

We have seen things unexplainable too. Those little mercies affirm "I am with you always. Even to the end of the age."

Thanks for sharing! :)

On another note: I noticed that one of the warming centers set up by Tarrant County is located at the very activist Fort Worth headquarters of Black Lives Matter. It didn't mention the BLM connection but just gave the address of the Community Center that has been taken over by them.

And then for more information on what BLM is really up to, there's this: https://www.zerohedge.com/political/absurd-look-marxist-ultra-woke-education-system-2021
