Isn't it funny that the same people who lose their minds because ranchers might use hormones with their herds think it's a great idea to inject even more powerful hormones into young kids to make them change their genders?
Over here we had a major campaign a few years ago against farmers inducing abortions in late-calving dairy cows, to get them milking at the start of the season with the rest. It was opposed as animal cruelty (and, arguably, it is). But it was being opposed by the same people who argue for abortions in humans, with the excuse that NOT allowing women to abort is cruelty to women.

I well remember a meeting I went to years ago with a bunch of hippies etc discussing composting toilets. Good discussion overall. However at some point someone started talking about water pollution from hormonal contraceptives from flush toilets harming fish, and even causing problems in humans downstream (these are both real problems). I commented that if the really diluted second-hand hormones are that harmful, what are they doing to the women who are taking the full-strength version daily? The hippie ladies didn't take that one well, they got rather angry actually...

There is some serious cognitive dissonance in the Green / animal rights movements (which are different topics but are the same crowd of individuals). They want to be as natural as possible when it comes to what shampoo to use, what fabric to wear, what food to eat - in fact, almost every area of life. And they want to avoid cruelty to animals in any form. These are noble and understandable goals. However, simultaneously, most also want to live a life of sexual freedom and feminism, and sexual freedom only exists with hormonal contraceptives and abortion to remove the obvious biological consequences. So, on this matter, they are in favour of the most modern medical intervention possible, to hell with what it does to the environment.

So they are largely a bunch of selfish hypocrites, unfortunately. Especially the women. Which is a great shame, because if they were actually consistent about their principles when they applied to humans they could achieve a lot of good, overall.

It would have been helpful if you had used the plural form of the word. Using the singular form indicated that you were only referring to one person.

it was a freaking joke, steve. I like Meagan C’s content all the time because I usually seem to agree with what she says, so I’m pretty sure she understood that I was being facetious. White knight much?

Please forgive me for attempting to prevent misunderstandings.

You have become quite insulting as of late, is that really necessary?

Have you looked in the mirror lately?

Some folks would misunderstand my comment to @MeganC, but she’s smart and level headed enough, so I was pretty sure she would pick up on my humor.

Ps @MeganC i was being facetious, which I think you already knew.

There i said it. Happy, steve? I don’t want you to have a heart attack or an aneurism or something, I actually like your crotchety old self, but for the life of me I can’t figure out why. Oh, and guess what, I got the “steve award” for one the posts in this back and forth... coincidence? I think not.

@steve sometimes you participate in the piling on of others, but if you are not careful, you yourself may find yourself at the bottom of one of those piles. Not a fun place to be.

I must say, this has been interesting.

I used to be one of these people, and I always hated it when people couldn't recognize how wrong they were about the supposed hypocrisy of my progressive attitudes.

Eventually, my desire to receive the approval of my progressive friends was outweighed by the growing pile of inconsistency.

So then it is the desire for acceptance amongst fellow progressives, that keeps them glued to that cult. Sounds familiar.

I felt funny putting my trash out this morning because no one else on the cul-de-sac had. I checked my phone to make sure it was Thursday but kept looking out the window until someone else put theirs out. I just felt like everyone else might know something I didn't since most of the neighbors put it out on Wednesday night.

So there's a lot of chaos in financial markets today, plenty of news articles about it, just search for GameStop. Bunch of retail investors trying to crash the markets to hurt the rich and make some cash in the process - absolutely fascinating mess and I struggle to understand it at all.

BUT, what's more interesting for the preppers on this forum, is that when this is over, the next thing they're all likely to focus on is silver. They may try and actually cause the massive correction in the artificially-deflated silver market that everybody has been predicting for decades but hasn't yet happened:
https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/l6novm/the_real_dd_on_slv_the_worlds_biggest_short/

So if you were intending to put up some silver in your bugout supplies, you might want to be aware of that and finish ordering whatever you were intending to just in case the RobinHood crowd all suddenly become silverbugs...

This is not investment advice, etc. I'm not saying silver WILL suddenly increase in price and therefore you should invest in it to make money, but rather that you really don't know what it will cost in a couple of weeks so if you were wanting to buy some for other reasons it might be prudent to actually get it done. The price could, theoretically, even decrease - if you've got a crowd of people trying to manipulate it one way, and the existing banks stepping up their efforts to keep it manipulated in the other direction, that might be an unprecedented situation nobody could predict.

I wouldn't let my testimony give one too much hope, though -- the progressive movement is mostly populated by Kool-Aid-drinking True-Believers. There is a dynamic among them that is very common, though: I'm not saying it's universal, but it's not at all uncommon for Kool-Aid Drinkers to be college-educated individuals with IQs in the 95-110 range who very sincerely believe that they are in the 130+ range. They get sucked into progressivism because they glom onto one or another progressive theory (feminism; Darwinism; socialism; etc.) that actually defies common sense, but the grasping of it under the tutelage of a supposedly older-and-wiser authority figure (especially an instructor who has power over one's future in the form of permanent grades on one's transcript) requires just about the maximum brain power the individual possesses to get over the threshold of comprehending it, such that, once comprehended, one is both sufficiently mentally exhausted to further challenge it, and so proud of oneself for being genius enough to comprehend what was originally unimaginable and incomprehensible that one prefers to live in the land of looking down on those who one perceives now to be either incapable of comprehending the progressive concept/theory or too mean or bigoted to be willing to admit that one has been hornswoggled. The first such experience is the gateway drug into progressivism. If one ever musters up the gumption to tackle another similar theory or dogma in the progressive pantheon, then one can become a Kool-Aid-drinking True Believer with mastery of more than one stripe of progressivism, but what happens far more often is that the progressivism initiate simply blindly accepts one aspect after another of progressivism as one encounters them as yet another requirement of being in the elitist club to which one now belongs, whether those other concepts or theories have existed for decades or get added to the pantheon along the way. Giving consideration to challenging the latest ridiculousness never occurs, because, if nothing else, one would have to admit one was wrong -- on top of setting aside the approval of the elitist club one belongs to in which one escapes being labeled a bigot.

It's actually a rather cheap, shallow path for achieving the delusion of sainthood, much like methamphetamine is a cheap, shallow path for achieving the delusion of invincibility. I've done them both. Avoiding the long-term and obvious physical self-destruction associated with meth made it relatively easy to walk away from, but it wasn't until I recognized the degree to which liberalism was shredding my soul that I knew I had to walk away from it despite knowing full well that most of my former friends and associates would entirely turn their backs on me. Even at that, it took me several years and many phases to fully extricate myself from the grips of leftist ideology. Some of that distancing process, though, dragged out because I very consciously chose to sort through everything piece by piece, because I didn't want to become a reactionary zealot. It would have been easy to just assert to myself and the world around me that I had done a complete about-face, but I figured that would be not only disingenuous but a matter of being so intent on just becoming Not That that I would be guilty of throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Liberalism is generally evil (I tend to agree with Michael Savage that it's a mental illness), but there are enough aspects of it that are not only legitimate but actually potentially superior to conservative intellectual counterparts in their potential for being beneficial to the lives of human beings that I remain unwilling to chuck out all that I found worthy of appreciation during my decades as a leftist.

So your recommendations for red pilling a leftist are?

What comes to mind first is JFK. My best friend was a dyed-in-the-wool leftist raised by dyed-in-the-wool leftists, both of whom were raised by dyed-in-the-wool leftists. When I left the Left, he began a campaign of shaming me, to the point that I refused to have anything to do with him for a 5-year period. He then decided he would leave politics off the table. Eventually, though, all on his own (with a little nudging from his wife's illegal alien relatives who are almost all Trump supporters), he started following links online from his fascination with the JFK assassination until I started noticing that he was supportive of conspiracy theories that were decidedly anti-leftist. Over about a 3-year period, I have watched him gravitate all the way from being On Beyond Liberal to adamantly Anti Democrat Party. He's who turned me on to Zero Hedge. Way back when, though, about all we could agree on was that JFK wasn't killed by Lee Harvey Oswald.

With men, I find one can get a foot in the door with statements of male solidarity around how tied in knots life can get trying to adhere to all the incongruent rules thrown at us by feminism. That can open some doors.

With women, I bring up what I learned from the RAND Corporation back in the 1970s about how feminism was a purposeful strategy on the part of corporate titans to exploit the women's movement for the purpose of nearly doubling the workforce over time while keeping wages stagnant and ultimately only having to pay the equivalent of about 60% for labor. When the speaker predicted in 1974 that, by 2000, women would be 40% of the workforce, we all thought that was a laudable goal but entirely unrealistic. The logic by the, obviously successful, strategy was brilliant, though, because they recognized that the average family operates on the basis of making just enough money to get the lifestyle they start off seeking; they figured that, if implemented incrementally, almost no one would end up noticing that it would end up taking two incomes to produce a lifestyle that 20 years earlier would have only required one -- and feel superior to the cave people from 1974 for having accomplished the 'liberation' of women.

One of the young women attending the lecture stood up and declared that the world would never change that much and that young girls would never go to college in large numbers for the purpose of getting a career. She asserted that it would always be the case that women, as was the case with her, would predominantly be sent to college by their parents for the purpose of finding a husband who would have a good income (known as obtaining the M R S degree).

And it begins. Silver futures up 8% at opening on Sunday, and physical silver is already selling out everywhere.
https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/reddit-preparing-unleash-worlds-biggest-short-squeeze-silver
In the 24 hours proceeding Friday market close, SD Bullion sold nearly 10x the number of silver ounces that we normally would sell in an entire weekend leading to Sunday market open. ... This is about ready to get really interesting as there was very little inventory left from suppliers/mints going into Friday close.
