To restore health...and lose weight....

You must win the battle within!

The book Super Gut teaches you how to reset your microbiome. This matters as many people have destroyed their gut health with antibiotics, too much coffee, sugar, processed foods, etc. Many also have ENEMY microbes where they shouldn't be, in the upper gi tract.
These CAUSE inflammation and chronic disease

Doing the protocol in the Super Gut book helped my/our husband get his health back....and he was feeling so poor he wondered how long he would/could live. He lost about 26 pounds in a month....but not intentionally and it wasn't healthy! He's doing good now and gained back some. It helped my health. I tried for years to lose weight...had aches, pains, a sore back that was very debilitating. I knew I couldn't go trim sheep's hooves or I'd be a cripple next day. I had a rash I couldn't get rid of....food cravings.
The protocol in Super Gut resets your microbiome...and I felt sooo much better with the sugar cravings gone. Then I got the missing piece....how to fast ( or eat) like a girl and I was able to finally after years make real progress on my weight. At my heaviest over a year ago I was probably 40 pounds overweight. ...and I never felt like me that heavy. I lost ten last summer and then just couldn't drop any more. Since late March I've lost another 15 and it sure makes a difference! If anyone has questions I am happy to share....but I will be feeling good about myself again when I turn 51 this summer. I can WORK again! And I LOVE THAT!! No back pain....even after trimming sheep hooves... no knee pain....I can run easier....and look forward to getting horseback again. My hubby didn't want me to ride because the risk of coming off and getting seriously injured is far greater with more weight hitting the ground.

That's all I have time to write....because I'm excited about life and being able to LIVE again. There is hope. You can THRIVE!

@Joleneakamama thanks for sharing this book! I’ve been dealing with trying to lose weight for YEARS. Once I had kids, I started struggling. And I think I’ve heard before that it all kind of starts in the gut.
I’ve lost a lot since having my 5th baby, but I feel like this book would be really helpful for me since I think my sugar-addiction is probably a lot to blame. ;)

I've been working on losing some weight for the last three months or so (257 down to 239). I (6'4" man) intend to get below 220 pounds. I've mainly focused on reducing "junk food" and also eating a little less in general.

I'm a big gardener, so we eat a ton of fruit and vegetables, and my wife cooks our meals "from scratch". Our diet is better than the Standard American Diet (SAD).

Unfortunately we both have a "sweet tooth" and enjoy eating out. I found myself eating dessert or snacking almost every night after dinner.

I also tend to eat large quantities of food, eating for enjoyment, not nourishment. I'm now trying to eat reasonably sized portions.

I've justified my past overeating with the fact that I regularly work out lifting weights. The trouble is that my mouth can always "out work" my exercise routine. 😳

I know there are innumerable approaches to diet. I'm trying to eat real food, eat a lot of food that I grew, and the wife cooked, and minimizing the rest, especially the super processed fake foods.

I could relate for sure!!

Ummm yep! I can relate here too. I'm a fairly good cook and like what I fix.

The neat thing about post Super Gut protocol is that while I can still enjoy treats, I dont CRAVE them. I also feel more nourished!

The wrong microbes in your small intestine cam actually steal nutrients like b vitamins and fat solvable ones leaving your body starving for what YOU ate that the microbes got!

So I now feel in control of what I eat....and that is a good feeling!!

I haven't lost this month....but we had birthdays, guests, a family reunion....and I didn't try to lose. But I haven't gained either....so :)

I enjoy trying to solve this puzzle myself.

Two things I've considered recently are the following:

1) When God made Adam and Eve they were in the Garden presumably Barefoot in accordance with God's design. I was reading that "barefoot shoes" wake up ~400,000 nerves in our feet, turning on the "scales" in our feet so our subconscious adjusts how much we eat and helps our bodies feel comfortable walking on harder surfaces.

If you're interested in barefoot shoes check out Vivobarefoot or Xero shoes. I'm not affiliated with either, but I've owned a couple of each and I like them - they're some of the thinnest on the market. Try a "sandwich" outfit, if you're concerned about how they look.

2) Coincidentally, within the same time frame that I started wearing barefoot shoes, I also started gravitating toward the following diet - meat (mostly fatty beef/salmon)/cheese, fruit/veg (including potatoes), seeds/nuts. A "living off the land" type of diet even if you live in the burbs. Similar to Super Gut protocol.

My hunger has been low because a small plate of those foods fills you up quick and for a long time. Or just maybe.. it's my barefoot shoes telling my brain I've had enough 🤔. Guess I'll find out. Take care.

I have had very good luck with carnivore myself.
Significant weight loss over the last few years, significantly improved health markers of all sorts, vastly better sleep and energy levels as well as just generally better mood. The most important change though has been with respect to inflammation. As someone with more than three dozen broken bones over an active life as well more soft tissue and joint injuries than I can recall, I had some real pain issues. Two weeks in and the pain was simply gone. That was big.
Another bonus has been that I think I look a fair amount younger than I did a few years ago and definitely less haggard.
Worth considering.
