If I was worried about grizz we have appropriate tools for dealing with them.

Today is my 31st birthday! :)
Although 31 seems a little young for someone running a .45acp. :D

I think of that as a popular caliber for the over 60 crowd. Then again, as I type this I have a .38sp snub-nose revolver in my pocket, and that is a really "old-fashioned" choice.o_O

why are they talking about mandrakes in genesis?
g
Mandrakes are a root herb that were at least believed to enhance the possibility of conception during that time (this is disputed in modern times, but these modern times are dominated by the allopathic medical community, which is wholly aligned with decreasing population and thus can't be trusted to even truly concern itself with conducting legitimate research into conception-enhancing potential). Anyway, Leah's son Reuben gathered some mandrakes for his mother, and Rachel requested some of them from Leah. Leah refused at first, complaining about how she had to share her husband with Rachel, but Rachel then offered up her night with Jacob to Leah, which resulted in Leah being impregnated. Both women were, up until that point, distraught about relative infertility, so the story is at least symbolic of the imperative both felt to populate the tribes of Israel.

Just a guess, but maybe the story is there to give us a glimpse of how their lives were walked out?

edit: posted during Keith’s much better post.

I always casually wondered that myself and your post made me do a little search. This is just Wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandrake

It’s seems like it had something to do with fertility and also people may have been leery about digging it up, which could be way Rachel wanted some but didn’t just get them herself. I could be completely wrong on that though.

thank you all
i did look up the usual google-y things,
looking for insights and opinions
sometimes y'all here have a wide variety of things to say on any given topic

by the way, i see it's been about a year since 'random comments' started, imo it's been awesome. do you think we should begin a new one since this is over fifty pages long?
g
Let's leave this up to @MeganC.

I just thought @MeganC was going for the longest thread ever. lol Actually, it might be...I guess I should check the facts before making a claim. :p

edit: after a quick look...the winner seems to be the Wuhan at 97 pages!

Well, that's no surprise, either!

I was thinking to just let it go.

As in continue. :)

I put this up so there would be a place for things that needed to be said but that didn't need to have their own topic. Like saying I had a happy birthday! :)

Oh, happy birthday, again!
