I think the news that Saudi Arabian officials are seriously talking about selling oil in non-dollar currencies is the far more consequential news item of the day. That is widely expected to be a key trigger for a US economic collapse. And if that happens, it would affect even New Zealand far more than the retirement of a politician.
Dedollarization is trend. This is just movement is trend's direction. Saudi Arabia won't still be able to get rid od dollars, just break rial/dollar peg and stop selling only for dollars. There is just too dollars in circulation.

There is more dollars outside USA than inside.

Why such bad altitude? Demon is gone. Can't replace it second demon. It will too be gone in year or two.

Protests and civil disobedience have it's reward. Enjoy it.

Second key implication is change of elite. Current WEF's boys and girls are weaking and in long term movementv will be in direction of something more normal.
She'll be replaced by another WEF person, and the leader of the main opposition party (the likely next prime minister following our next election) is also a WEF person. At this stage nothing changes.
And there are bigger issues at play domestically regarding race relations which could actually be worsened by her leaving - there are even worse people who could replace her.

But it's still at least as good a reason to party as winning a sports game (sounds just as nice while being just as meaningless), so people are partying it up. There have been resounding cheers on the Auckland waterfront, and some shops have sold out of champagne. :-)

You have scalped one tyrant. If they put next one, repeat process.

Self-preservation instict will reduce tyranny in next leader.

Procedure will work, just give it time.

One of the resorts that buys our eggs voluntarily offered us to increase from $5 per dozen to $7 per dozen and the deal is they get their order filled before anyone else's order is filled.

I guess I missed the whole thing with egg prices going crazy! It's insane and there will be another rush by amateurs to buy chickens for eggs only to get rid of the chickens when prices go back to normal in a few months. I feel bad for all those birds who will get abandoned.

If the prices go back to normal.

Today we were donated 6 over-the-hill hens, presumably to save on feed. Evidently the donators aren’t fans of chicken soup?

The hens might have had names, and been therefore disqualified from going into their soup pot.

@MeganC, the opportunity today is in selling them hens. If you can breed them, do it and sell into the crazy market, people are paying silly money even for very young pullets.
The opportunity in 6 months will be to buy back cheap mature hens. :-)

And when that happens we'll be here to grab them up for or near free. At least, that's what I think is likely to happen.

I don't expect we'll have to buy any but just go get them. Like in 2020 we took in several small flocks of hens and a few roosters but we got them for free through the county shelter.

Just in case anyone else wants to adopt birds I recommend:

1. Bathing each new bird with canine flea shampoo to immediately kill mites, lice, and fleas especially on birds with docked beaks who can't preen these things off on their own. The powders are horrible and they take FOREVER to clean up the birds! Just give them a bath in warm water and it's OVER. Plus they love the bath! You'll see!

2. Keep them as far away from your home flock as you can to make sure there are no signs of disease. I recommend at least a month of separation but it's better to go for two months if you can.

We were inspected this morning.
The guy was surprisingly fair and scientific. Blood tests were done.
We passed with flying colors (20+ chickens and 6 ducks) with the proviso that we provide 8 foot fencing or a covered run.

Some of the neighbors lost their flocks.

So was this voluntary on your part? I don't know anyone that's had to have their flocks tested.

They just showed up, inspecting all of the flocks in the area.
We chose to let them.

The crazy neighbor who hates us had to have her six chickens put down.
The possibility that she was reporting us is strong.

What were they looking for? Why were the neighbour's chickens put down?

What? Why? Did he have a warrant?
