I am going to be at Pelican Lake in Minnesota from August 7 to the 13th. Anyone else going to be in that area? I'd love to meet for coffee!

Which is why we support Hillsdale College.

People who put the big commercial rolls of toilet paper in their dispensers without freeing the end of the roll are cruel.

I felt like laughing....but that didn't seem quite kind. We use paper tape here for covering small cuts. ....but trying to find where the end of the tape is with a sore finger is aweful!

This needs much more attention:

Every month or so we get someone posting copy-paste Hare Krishna evangelical spam here. Usually it is posted in the middle of the US night, so I see it in our evening while you're all asleep, and delete it before anyone else even notices. Today some people managed to comment on the thread before it disappeared, sorry for getting rid of your comments when I trashed the spam @Keith Martin. But just so you know, this is a very regular thing and I'm constantly deleting it. The same posts (copy-paste) appear on forums all across the internet. If anyone actually wanted to read it, here it is at Christianforums.com, where it was posted years ago (this is word-for-word what we have seen here before, might not be identical to the latest one but it's close):

No worries; I got a good laugh writing what I wrote, but no one will suffer from lack of seeing what I wrote.

Thanks for taking care of this kind of annoyance for us, Samuel.

"He began screaming “bear, bear” and rushed out of his tent to use bear spray against the animal, while his wife blew her whistle. "

1. Sleeping in a tent in bear country is stupid. It's also wolf country too.

2. There's a reason I carry a .45 all the time. I also keep a rifle nearby too. And I know a lot of people like the Ar-15 in .223 but for a semi-auto I'm all about the Ar-10 in .308 because if you need to kill a bear it's best to kill it on the first shot and not the 20th.

I've never seen a bear in our valley but they're not that far away from here.

Is this normal bear behaviour though? It came back to hurt her out of spite. There was no other reason to. No food there or anything. I'm glad they hunted it down and killed it.

It is actually normal bear behavior to kill out of either spite or just for the sake of enjoying the kill.

The word 'wild' before 'animal' should be taken seriously.

President Roosevelt knew better than anyone that they weren't Teddy Bears.

Grizzly bears in particular can be monsters. This story is something that gets talked about around here enough and it is worth reading to understand that bears are not cuddly wildlife.

Further evidence that SSRIs are NOT worth their many horrific side effects, the fact that they're extremely difficult to wean away from, and their association with every mass school shooting since Columbine:

Tucker Carlson's monologue tonight did a great job of incorporating this news into a summary of how perversely destructive drugs for depression, Alzheimer's and Wuhan Flu have turned out to be and the history of how these drugs have been promoted and in some cases forced upon the citizenry. I'll be on the look-out for a YouTube video on this.

Just cooked a beef pot roast that actually worked. It's so good!
Used our own beef, carrot, and something else we found in the garden that tastes a bit like a swede. Made the best gravy I've ever made out of the liquid around the roast too.
And half the family isn't home to eat it so they'll get it cold later lol.
