As I have often said, there is no better boot camp for a guy than learning how to effectively navigate the PM/ Estrogen Sea of Life with more than one ship! Me thinks that one of the reasons that plural marriage is so common in the Old Testament has much to do with the promises made to Abraham,Israel's role in blessing the world, and running a plural family successfully as perfect leadership training for running a nation, but I digress.
Possibly adding to this list of famous plural folk is certainly not someone I would want as a poster child for the lifestyle, and that is Sigmund Freud himself. There is strong evidence to suggest that his legal wife, Martha Bernays, and her sister, Minna, who lived with them for more than 50 years, both looked upon Siggie as hubby. It is also theorized that Minna became pregnant with Sigmund's child and had an abortion, which he regretted. The New York Times article below is fairly extensive and contains several pictures, but I don't know how to pull 'em and post 'em, so you'll have to go to the link.

Please understand, aficionados of Dr. Freud hotly contest this possibility of a de facto plural marriage, and claim it was a rumor started by a bitter Dr. Carl Jung, once Freud's protoge, then fierce rival. However, it bears scrutiny.
