I agree @MeganC
I remember a in my head dialog with a voice of reason. I was out riding a cute lil 14 hand Arab mare and had been having fun cutting up at speed around the greasewood down in the river bottom. I was coming up on a ditch cut out by run off water that I commonly made my horses navigate. From the side I was approaching it from, the side closest to me was a straight down drop of maybe 28 inches, it was only about that wide at the bottom and sloped up gradually on the other side. The voice said "You know you've been running her and her legs are probably a bit tired." I knew this. "You know she's probably going to try and jump it, and her legs might give out when she lands on that bank." I mentally acknowledged that I knew that too. I still put her to it. Sure enough she tried to jump, and her legs buckled at landing and she went down. I ended up on the ground with her scrambling back up onto her feet standing over me. I got up as quick as I could and walked her up out of the little wash cery thankful that she hadnt stepped on me. What really bothered me about that whole deal....is I was a couple months pregnant with our first, and the thought that I could have caused harm to the baby by not listening to that "voice of reason" stuck with me for a long time.....obviously! He's 26 now!
