I’m sorry for our Russo-philes but this is about to go very much against Russia, as it should. Putin is an incompetent ass who has slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Christians while ceding ground to the Islamists in Armenia.
Trump isn’t going to play at a fake war to avoid angering people so that talks can continue. Of Putin refuses the ceasefire I fully expect him to drastically up the pressure on Putin, who again is a venal, petty, corrupt, incompetent ass who thought he was going to be wrap all of this up before the end of the Biden administration.
Putin is a failure. He has failed spectacularly. It’s at least as likely that there’s regime change in Moscow as Kiev.
In reality, Putin is vastly relieved that there is finally an adult in the WH. He is going to work with Trump to stop the war, but it will include him getting the land that he has taken and Ukraine won’t be in NATO.
Trump is cutting off the EU buying Russian oil and gas, but that will only be a problem for the EU. Not that Putin couldn’t use the cash, but he’s not going to suffer.

And what do we see Trump trying to do with Canada and Greenland? And what do we see with Putin trying to do with Ukraine and Eastern Europe? I believe they are simply playing their roles for the grand finale.

We’ll see. So far Trump has exceeded every expectation and has proven the most successful foreign policy president since at least Reagan but possibly since Nixon or even Eisenhower.
