So I am appalled at this supposed Pastor who put this video up. This is a mockery of one of the most special events in Human History not just in Christianity. The Lamb of God came to save sinners and now we are inviting pot smoking stoners to a free breakfast to get them to hear the Gospel. Why did his elders or deacons or anyone say Hey Pastor I don't think this video is in good taste? Do we need to cheapen the gospel so much?

While I don’t exactly endorse gimmicky evangelism, I’m confused.

In your post you said that Jesus came to save sinners, but this pastor shouldn’t be inviting sinners to his church? I find the method distasteful, but not the intent.

Yes Jesus came to save sinners. Jesus doesn’t want us using worldly methods though because how you attract someone to Christ is important.

What is NOT is more clear; mixing the 'holy' or set apart with the profane, and adopting pagan practices that YHVH says He hates, while calling it acceptable to Him.
I’m this instance, what is profane and pagan? What scripture are you using to define that?

Well he’s talking about drug usage which we all know is wrong. 2 Timothy 4:5 says we are to be sober minded, Also Luke 16:13 says you can’t have two masters so if you are using Drugs the Holy Spirit who is your Master cannot be served because you are given over to seducing spirits. It’s the same prohibition that Saul got in seeking after the witch at Endor. We must be careful what we put in our bodies for we have been bought with a price and the Holy temple shouldn’t be filled with things that take away from the evidence and ability of the Holy Spirit to work in our lives.

Does that apply to coffee, tea and wine? They alter the brain.

I am not talking about 'drugs,' although some no doubt use them for pagan purposes.

Specifically, see Deuteronomy chapter 7, especially the last verses. Likewise, all of chapter 12. And ALL the places where we/they are told, "do NOT ask, how did these [pagans] worship their gods," and then go and do likewise. (Which is exactly what the RCC did do, to "christianize" the pagan not-so-holy days.)

And then specifically, Ezekiel chapter 22, and 44, where we see the contrasts. A priest which did, and one which FAILED, to "teach my people the difference," between the qadosh (set apart, rendered 'holy') and profane, and the tahor and tamim (clean, and unclean, or abomination.)

To 'worship' Him as the pagans did their fake gods, He "hates." (Note in Exodus where even Aaron fell for that BS, and made the 'eglah masekah' or calf image.) We are to (repeatedly, but Ex. 23:24 is but one example) NOT 'bow down,' or worship the fakes, but "utterly overthrow" them, burn down their asherim, "break in pieces" their pillars, etc - literally OVER and over. The examples are overwhelming, and "Legion."

And they permeate more xtian 'tradition' than most will want to admit.

PS> For a real eye-opener, then go read the story in Ezekiel chapters 8 through 9, about the "angel with the inkhorn," and what happens with that paganism. Which should sound VERY familiar, this time of year... (like, "40 days of weeping for Tammuz")

I didn't go through and watch the guy's sermon denouncing it, I just watched the first minute to see the original advertisement. And I have no problem with it at all. Seriously. Ignore the preacher's rant against it, just look at the original advertisement he is complaining about. I think you're reading your objections into it and basing them on the emotional reaction of someone else, not the actual advertisement.

@ASyers41 or @Mark C, can you quote any specific thing he says in that advertisement and show a scripture that it violates?

Anything in excessive amounts is harmful. There is no prohibition on wine. The word says don’t be in excess with it.
So then if someone smokes cannabis, but not to excess, then is that permissible in your understanding?

Got it. But where in the advertising of the 4/20 service are they advocating smoking to a pagan god?

Now, if you’re talking about Rastafarians smoking marijuana as part of their false worship, I might agree that it fits.

I just did. And I have no doubt that renaming the most important event in human history after a pagan fertility goddess, and celebrating it with pagan fertility symbols, is far more offensive to Him than even a foul odor from burning something other than a lamb.

So then your beef is with the Easter reference, not the smoking?

@Mark C, as you already know very well because we've had to have this discussion over and over again, this is an ecumenical Christian forum and caters both for people who commemorate Christ's death and resurrection through Passover, and through Easter. Your constant whining about people choosing to commemorate Him in a way that you disapprove of has no place here, and is about as edifying as a dripping tap. I'm sick of it.

It is currently both Easter AND the feast of unleavened bread. If anyone criticises either way of remembering Christ, their posts may be deleted on sight. That's not a discriminatory statement, as it applies to both positions. Let's focus on Christ's sacrifice as brethren and give no ground for division.

Incidentally @Mark C, I'm pretty sure you haven't even watched the video, as nothing you have said has had anything to do with it, you're just back on your old hobby horse.
