Prostitution vs adultery

When you ignore the demonstrative stories,
The demonstrative stories support me!
Old news; asked and answered, in Deuteronomy 24:1, and repeated in verse 3
No it doesn’t. Christ explicitly ties those concepts to one flesh in his debate with the Pharisees. You claim one flesh isn’t marriage so divorce doesn’t dissolve marriage. You can’t ignore the words of Christ. You are so deluded by your single minded obsession with the law that you have completely lost the New Teatament.

...You claim one flesh isn’t marriage...
Where? The "fallacy of the negative." Good grief. Do I have to explain simple logic?

One flesh is not necessarily marriage. One flesh is not IDENTICAL to marriage. Clearly, there are cases (noted at length) where sex is not marriage.

To 'take a wife' (physically) is consummation of a Covenant. That is what I 'claim.' And what Scripture makes oh-so-clear.

And what the New COVENANT is ALL about.

This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. (Ephesians 5:32).
Since our union with Christ is parrellel to one flesh between man and woman.

Could I derive that to unite to Christ is to "know" Him. To believe on Him is uniting with Him. To commit adultery against Christ is to "know" someone else besides Him. A person believing in Buddha and Christ just committed adultery against Christ. A person believing in its own efforts besides Christ is committing adultery. What makes me united to Christ, a permission slip from self appointed governing body, no. Set of sacraments unites me to Christ, no. Do I need witnesses to be united to Christ, no. What action that is necessary to be united to Christ in spiritual intercourse.

But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. (1 Corinthians 6:17)

How many actions procedures does it take to be united with the Lord? Perhaps the answer is parrellel to what is marriage or one flesh bond.
We are the Children of his union with the Nation of Israel. He marries Nations, not individuals.

See Mt. Sinai as the example. Jeremiah

Jer 3:6 The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.
Jer 3:7 And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
Jer 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
Jer 3:9 And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.
Jer 3:10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.
Jer 3:11 And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.
Jer 3:12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.
Jer 3:13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.
Jer 3:14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
Jer 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

Note in verse 14, he says that he is married to the children... Which is only true when it is all of them in the form of a nation. They form the nation that he marries. But it is the nation that he is married to, not the individual children.

Our individual relationship with him is father/child.

And for the hundredth time, no can link covenants to marriage anywhere outside of Malachi and thats a terrible passage for that purpose.
Covenants are ALL over in scripture but they are just contracts. Contracts of all kinds. But, marriages are also contracts.
So, a marriage covenant is simply a marriage contract. Today we would likely call it a Pre-Nupital agreement.

So, scripture to tie marriage to a covenant.... Bear with me, this is LONG!!!! Highlighting key elements but the whole chapter deals with it.

Eze 16:1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Eze 16:2 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,
Eze 16:3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite.
Eze 16:4 And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.
Eze 16:5 None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the lothing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born.
Eze 16:6 And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live.
Eze 16:7 I have caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field, and thou hast increased and waxen great, and thou art come to excellent ornaments: thy breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou wast naked and bare.
Eze 16:8 Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine.

This is our heavenly father taking the House of Judah in marriage. Complete with the classic, "hubba bubba! I want that!" moment to the fullness of the taking her to be his. In a covenant...

Eze 16:9 Then washed I thee with water; yea, I throughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil.
Eze 16:10 I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with badgers' skin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and I covered thee with silk.
Eze 16:11 I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck.
Eze 16:12 And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head.
Eze 16:13 Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom.

This is the adorning of the bride.

Eze 16:14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Eze 16:15 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.
Eze 16:16 And of thy garments thou didst take, and deckedst thy high places with divers colours, and playedst the harlot thereupon: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so.
Eze 16:17 Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them,

This is the adultery that she committed against her husband.

Eze 16:18 And tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them: and thou hast set mine oil and mine incense before them.
Eze 16:19 My meat also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou hast even set it before them for a sweet savour: and thus it was, saith the Lord GOD.

She gave to her lovers the provision that her husband had given her.

Eze 16:20 Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter,
Eze 16:21 That thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them?

She bore children unto him, again affirming the marital union and not simply a platonic relationship

Eze 16:22 And in all thine abominations and thy whoredoms thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked and bare, and wast polluted in thy blood.
Eze 16:23 And it came to pass after all thy wickedness, (woe, woe unto thee! saith the Lord GOD;)
Eze 16:24 That thou hast also built unto thee an eminent place, and hast made thee an high place in every street.
Eze 16:25 Thou hast built thy high place at every head of the way, and hast made thy beauty to be abhorred, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredoms.
Eze 16:26 Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of flesh; and hast increased thy whoredoms, to provoke me to anger.
Eze 16:27 Behold, therefore I have stretched out my hand over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary food, and delivered thee unto the will of them that hate thee, the daughters of the Philistines, which are ashamed of thy lewd way.
Eze 16:28 Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians, because thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied.

This example is given in the first 7 chapters of proverbs where we see a prostitute bringing men to their destruction but in chapter 7 we discover she is a married woman all along.

Eze 16:29 Thou hast moreover multiplied thy fornication in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith.
Eze 16:30 How weak is thine heart, saith the Lord GOD, seeing thou doest all these things, the work of an imperious whorish woman;
Eze 16:31 In that thou buildest thine eminent place in the head of every way, and makest thine high place in every street; and hast not been as an harlot, in that thou scornest hire;
Eze 16:32 But as a wife that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers instead of her husband!
Eze 16:33 They give gifts to all whores: but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and hirest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredom.
Eze 16:34 And the contrary is in thee from other women in thy whoredoms, whereas none followeth thee to commit whoredoms: and in that thou givest a reward, and no reward is given unto thee, therefore thou art contrary.
Eze 16:35 Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD:
Eze 16:36 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them;
Eze 16:37 Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.
Eze 16:38 And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy.
Eze 16:39 And I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thine eminent place, and shall break down thy high places: they shall strip thee also of thy clothes, and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare.
Eze 16:40 They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords.
Eze 16:41 And they shall burn thine houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women: and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou also shalt give no hire any more.
Eze 16:42 So will I make my fury toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry.
Eze 16:43 Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast fretted me in all these things; behold, therefore I also will recompense thy way upon thine head, saith the Lord GOD: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness above all thine abominations.
Eze 16:44 Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use this proverb against thee, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter.
Eze 16:45 Thou art thy mother's daughter, that lotheth her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters, which lothed their husbands and their children: your mother was an Hittite, and your father an Amorite.
Eze 16:46 And thine elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand: and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is Sodom and her daughters.
Eze 16:47 Yet hast thou not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations: but, as if that were a very little thing, thou wast corrupted more than they in all thy ways.
Eze 16:48 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.
Eze 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
Eze 16:50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.
Eze 16:51 Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters in all thine abominations which thou hast done.
Eze 16:52 Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.
Eze 16:53 When I shall bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then will I bring again the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them:
Eze 16:54 That thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them.
Eze 16:55 When thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate, then thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate.
Eze 16:56 For thy sister Sodom was not mentioned by thy mouth in the day of thy pride,
Eze 16:57 Before thy wickedness was discovered, as at the time of thy reproach of the daughters of Syria, and all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, which despise thee round about.
Eze 16:58 Thou hast borne thy lewdness and thine abominations, saith the LORD.
The Lord's Everlasting Covenant
Eze 16:59 For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, which hast despised the oath in breaking the covenant.
Eze 16:60 Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.
Eze 16:61 Then thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder and thy younger: and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant.
Eze 16:62 And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD:
Eze 16:63 That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.

The new Covenant... Is a new MARRIAGE Covenant....
TLDR.

You can’t connect covenants or contracts to marriage. Adam and Eve didn’t have either. Nowhere are they connected to marriage. I’m sorry but the Ezekiel passages (I read some of it) are using marriage as a metaphor, not telling us how to conduct them.

What we’re looking for is a scriptural explanation of how to form a marriage so that you’re not just one flesh with a harlot.

TRM, I shake my head in disbelief that you completely disregard Ezekiel 16 as Yahweh says: Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine.

My Stance: Our concept of "marriage" is not scriptural but hearkens back to idolatrous "soul ties" therefore we ought to dismiss the word.
Patriarchy is a better word denoting father owns and rules.

One flesh is the all important baby produced when a patriarch "knows" his isha, his owned woman. Prostitutes are not exempted from getting pregnant so therefore CAN be "one flesh" but she is not his isha. The adulterous woman can repent and come back to her owner- divorce is not automatic.

Lost in our culture is the concept of idolatry with the baby as the sacrifice which is what was referred to in the "dividing asunder." A study in the humanities and the idolatrous temple worship reveals the practice of temple prostitutes getting pregnant and subsequent passing the resultant child through the fire of Molech or Chemosh and the hideous cries of the children being murdered. (Planned parenthood anyone?)

Covenant is transactional- ownership(for lack of a better word) transfers from one (her daddy) to another man. When a slave female(war spoils) is taken as an isha (and humbled) and subsequently is rejected, ownership reverts now to the woman as a "free" person and can make her own decisions.

Scripture is filled with contrasts- The World does it like this BUT(!) My People shall do it differently, and turn from their wicked ways.

I like the agrarian husbandman that plants his seed in his garden and expects yummy fruits and vegetables. The wise gardener tills and plants seed and prunes and weeds. In my travels I have seen well tended orchards in the San Joaquin and Sacramento valleys, then as well seen the neglected land with weeds overgrowing and trees obviously untended. Our isha and children display our husbandly abilities.

Gents- Be the honey that attracts bees and not the pucky that attracts flies.

Another view of the "One Flesh" concept is that a woman takes on make DNA. Her DNA is altered. Her body takes on male dna from either sex or the result of sex producing a male child and that child's dna mixing with hers. Either way, that woman's DNA is modified slightly to be of her sex partner.

This is the result of a study from 2012 and while they did find male dna in many of the test subjects, today, many scientist are not willing to believe it is the result from purely having sex. They acknowledge the changes in the women but do not believe that the science has concluded how they changed.

Could it be, that God knows and that he is ahead of the science on this?

I don’t see that as a different view, I see it as a piece of the overall picture. Just part of becoming one.
If it was the only factor, condom use would prevent “one flesh” while all other parts of the act were in play.

And that is why you are not learning....
Or it could be why I am learning. I’m not getting distracted by passages that aren’t actually about the topic. We have passages that are specifically about the practical formation of marriages. You just copy and pasted a huge block of scripture that was a metaphorical indictment of Israel’s rebellion. If you stayed on topic you might no get so distracted.

And I shake my head. Read this passage again, what came first? The time of love and the spreading of the skirt. Please, read what you write before you hit post. Did God commit fornication? Did He try it before he buy it?

If I were accepting these verses as instructive about how to form a marriage this would be one of the most powerful proofs on my side. God had sex metaphorical sex with Israel long before the covenant. Most likely when He renamed Jacob. The covenant was hundreds of years later.

But even so, again this is a metaphor about Israel and its failure to keep the actual covenant. It has nothing to do with how to form a marriage. We have verses about that and we should sort that out and then our understanding of how God wants us to form our marriages will inform the metaphor He was using in Ezekiel and elsewhere.

So sexy resulting in a girl baby isn’t one flesh? It only counts if it’s a boy?

Btw, Ruth receives advice how to find husband.

Pure seduction. That's advice how to find husband.

This bolsters @The Revolting Man argument that sex == marriage.

Otherwise, why didn't Ruth received other instruction.

Seduce man and if doesn't make relationship official, ask father to use shotgun to stop avoidance of non-sexual marriage duties. At least that what I heard how it worked in 19th century America.

What we’re looking for is a scriptural explanation of how to form a marriage so that you’re not just one flesh with a harlot.

Asked and answered. You are almost certainly the only one reading this NOT 'smart enough' to the story of Genesis 24 for comprehension.

You deny the obvious, the undeniable, and then whine that no one will clue you in.

This is absolute truth. That marriage starts when she literally climbs into bed with the man.
