The Thelyphthora Book Club podcast

Greetings friends,

It has been a while, but I am starting a new project and I would love you to be involved. A few years ago I got the domain thelyphthora.com through WordPress. For those that do not know Thelyphthora is a theological work done by the Reverend Martin Madan of the Lock Hospital. They specialized in treating women with STDs. He hoped that the books would create a movement to legalize polygamy and criminalize activities that sexually victimized women. In his own words, "As our laws are at present framed, women are exposed to seduction, prostitution, and ruin,...they seem to be looked upon as lawful prey to the lust, treachery, cruelty and mean artifices of licentious and profligate men, who can seduce and then abandon them at their will."

He hoped that a deep examination of the Biblical text would sway the body politic into a more protective stance on behalf of women. Unfortunately, that didn't work. Nevertheless, the 3 volume text provides no better more thorough apologetic for biblical marriage than has ever been attempted before or since.

Not everyone has these books, but everyone can hear the text on the podcast as I read it. Most podcasts will be simple readings, and the others will be interactions with the audience messages and my editiorals.

How can you help? I am glad you asked.

First, listen, subscribe, and share the podcast. Easy right? https://open.spotify.com/episode/7k7Qv2lMkYAZqFjPLPGIHJ
Second, Interact with me through the Anchor App. Leave messages that I can share and interact with.
Thirdly and lastly, this is a call out for technical help. I want to reformat my WordPress site to carry the podcast. I think I am missing something.

Thanks in advance for your help. This is purely a labor of love, and there should be no advertisements running on my podcast.

Please let me know what you think and if this might help you at all.

God Bless,

Robert the Neopatriarch

Great idea.

I have been considering for some time doing an audio recording of various classics like this and putting them up on Librivox (free audio book source, both an app and a website). It is however such a time-consuming project I haven't actually made serious plans to begin it. But if you're taking the time to read through Thelyphthora and record it anyway, I'd strongly recommend recording it chapter-by-chapter in a way that could be posted there as an audio book also. More people will find it if it's in both places.

That would simply mean keeping reading of the book, and discussion of it, separate enough that they can be easily posted together as a podcast or just the former collated as an audiobook.

@NeoPatriarch I just added a podcast page to my Wordpress site. PM me and I can help. Anchor and WordPress have an agreement, as youlikely know... i'm using a similar format for several of my books.

Currently, I am recording Authority, Headship, and Family Structure.

Thelyphthora
is an excellent choice and incredible tool!

Good ideas all. Readings will be separated from editorials by podcast and more fundamentally as audio segments on the Anchor app. I think having a variety of material will create more interest for the audience and for me. Podcasting is a lonely art. I guess that's why it's usually two people and or guests.

Thanks,

Robert

NeoPatriarch,
I appreciate you doing this. Those books are incredibly important and need to be more widely distributed.

This made me think: We need a nonprofit organization that donates copies to libraries. Not that anyone reads anymore.

May you find full success.

I don't do spotify, but I have ordered the books due to your inspiration.
