When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD (YHWH) will take me up (take over caring/providing for me). -- Ps 27:10
I ran across this verse not so long ago. Kinda shocked me. I'd read it before, but it grabbed me this time.
Many of us have suffered the loss of family (immediate, extended, church, work) support over our pursuit of a deeper relationship with God. This has been especially true as we open our hearts to His Ideas about family, and then open our mouths and witness to what we are learning.
Sometimes the desertion has taken financial forms, such as loss of job, or financial support being cut off. Sometimes relationship forms, such as dis-fellowshipping from churches, or family cutting off communication or worse.
Regardless, God's promise above comes into play. When we are deserted by those we hold dear, and who have been our secure points in the past, God steps up and fills the gap. He takes us up. He provides for our temporal needs. He steps up His own personal relationship with us, and provides us with new human companions for our earthly walk.
In fact, He over-fills, overflows, the gap. I testify to having been through this process repeatedly, and that each time the net effect has been PROFIT. More and better provision, more and better human relationships, more and better direct interaction with the Divine.
If you are going through such a time today, please latch onto this promise and don't let go. God IS with you, every step of the way, and can be relied upon to bring you safely through to His Own place of peace.
