Genesis 2:24
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
How can a husband and wife be one flesh if they are always at odds with each other? Simple - here is the solution given to us by the Heavenly Father through the Holy Spirit in Paul's letter to the Ephesians:
Ephesians 5:22-24
Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
This is a very difficult teaching for the modern day christian woman. But just because pagan social norms have greatly relaxed this commandment - it does not mean the wife isn't in perpetual sin by wishing her own will be done over her husband's will. It is better for the Christian woman to remain a virgin and un-married than to marry and try to force her own will be done over her husband's will. Just like it's better for the man to be un-married if he doesn't agree with Jesus' commandment he can not divorce his wife unless for the reason of sexual immorality:
Matthew 19:9-11
And I tell you this, whoever divorces his wife and marries someone else commits adultery —unless his wife has been unfaithful.”
10 Jesus’ disciples then said to him, “If this is the case, it is better not to marry!”
11 “Not everyone can accept this statement,” Jesus said. “Only those whom God helps. 12 Some are born as eunuchs, some have been made eunuchs by others, and some choose not to marry for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. Let anyone accept this who can.”
