I am so thankful for my husband

The thread a while back about the salmon sandwich was cool (can't remember where it was off-hand). Well, I have a similar one about my husband Ray. Wanting to focus our six children on the Lord at Christmas, he had a wonderful idea a few days ago: organize a Christmas play for them to put on. We've never done this before, and so far, it's a blast! He took the passage in Luke, and typed it out into parts with a narrator and stage directions, color coded it, and we went about assigning parts. Though we'd been continuing some homeschooling this week, he finally called an end to it at noon today so they could devote all their time to memorizing lines, creating costumes, and planning the sets, which most likely will be quite make-shift :). I get to narrate and videotape so we can watch it as the audience when it's all done. Filming on Friday night; showing on Saturday!

My youngest, a 7 1/2 year old boy, who has quite a few wiggles in his system, wanted to play Joseph, but Dad wasn't too sure he could handle the responsibility of four paragraphs and the role. I told him I'd work with him, and already, he has one paragraph memorized, complete with gestures and a manly demeanor. His dad said he was doing a great job so far. This is really fun, pulling the whole family together on a project that has them memorizing a chapter and half of the bible, keeping at bay what the world wants them to focus on, and thinking deeply about what this honorable family went through for our sakes as the King of the Universe came to visit planet earth.

Ray has taught them countless "Sunday School" classes at home, and given daily encouragements in the Lord. He has over the years, used scripture, stick drawings, object lessons, humor, treasure hunts, and more; not to mention, showing a personal example of learning grace in Christ, and exhibiting it, but this is probably the coolest thing he's done so far. If that's not sexy, I don't know what is.
