How to stir yourself up ?

So I have been doing online outreach for a couple years now. I mostly seek to share Christ and reason with people about their beliefs. I hardly ever get to specifics of family, marriage or even God honoring business.

The great majority of people I talk to online give me a brief "that's nice for you" or pretend to agree but show no real interest in discussing God or his word.

I don't want to give up online outreach, but I feel like it's been a bit futile.

Is there something you all do to stir yourselfs up toward outreach? Any tactics on helping to engage people?

I would even feel better if they openly disagreed, I am having a real struggle with the apathy I see.

Market Place ministry changed everything about the way I see outreach. I have totally moved away from the “evangelistic” win everybody approach. I am only accountable for those whose paths I cross in a day to day environment and that God opens the door and grants me influence into their lives. It has been so liberating, and watching the instances where God has granted influence in someone else’s life has been exhilarating.

This may not be the answer you are looking for, but here goes...

Before we were born again, or rather, born from above, we were DEAD in trespasses and sins. Unbelievers are spiritually dead. The carnal mind CANNOT understand the things of the spirit. You might as well be droning on concerning the details of nuclear physics to a one year old. A one year old might be looking at you and smiling, but nothing you’re saying makes an ounce of sense to him. No one can come to God unless the spirit of God draws him. It is the Holy Spirit, using the Word of God in your mouth proclaiming the Law of God, to convict sinners of their sins and show them their need of a savior. Then you can preach the Gospel (which is the power of God unto salvation) to them. Our Job is to preach Repentance and Christ crucified for the remission of sins. We are told to preach the Gospel to everyone, and to reason with people concerning the Gospel, but it is the Holy Spirit who draws them and not our clever reasoning. So be obedient to the Master and preach the Gospel accurately, but don’t fret about about the number of converts, or the distain people have for your message, that’s above our pay grade :)
So don’t be weary in well doing, just follow the Master’s instructions, and be at peace.

Edit: @Paulsen remember the parable of the sower, only some of the seed fell on good ground. Likewise for us when we sow the seed of the Gospel, only some of the gound it falls on is good soil. Keep casting that seed far and wide :)

My hubby looks for open doors and ways to share his beliefs respectfully.
He is good at feeling people out and steering a conversation once it is started.
It's far better when someone thinks they initiated the discussion.

John 6:44 (KJV)
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Any teachers, scriptures or books that lead you to that view?

That is very helpful for where I am and how I am feeling. Thanks!

Among other things 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Nobody likes a salesman, unless they specifically ask him for information. IMO Cold calls and door to door Christ salesmen are a result of somebody’s “great” idea to build numbers instead of living Christianity. If you live your life like Christ, and are constantly watching for opportunities to share Christ and invest in your family first and then other/younger believers, you’ll have your hands full.

OTOH, the targeted evangelism and “soul winning”/witnessing I’ve seen and experienced is the epitome of having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. Once my eyes were opened, and I realized that Christianity was meant to be presented by your daily life in the marketplace, and conversations initiated by influence, it freed me from a lot of corporately manufactured guilt and amazed me at the freedom and impact my marketplace witness began having.
