This article is on the coming lost generation. I would also argue I think we are coming into a lost decade unless something happens quickly. And I am hoping that Nov. 2012 is not to late.

The important part for this group is the other findings at the bottom:

About 1 in 4 families with children is headed by single mothers, a record high. Among young families with a head of household younger than 30, the poverty rate jumped from 30 percent in 2007 to 37 percent.

The other pull quote:

Marriages fell to a record low last year of just 51.4 percent among adults 18 and over, compared with 57 percent in 2000. Among young adults 25-34, marriage was at 44.2 percent, also a new low.

Another reason for men of maturity to become leaders to these families.

As for the decline in "marriages" those are state licensed marriages. Hopefully we will see more Christian Cohabitation and love unions apart from the state created marriage system. It is a good sign actually to see more and more deciding to join together without the govt. processed licensed system. The emphasis though on when two join for those to remain together is for sure a need. Many of those coming together by natural unions do not understand that when they join they have roles and responsibilities. And then the traditional churches preach against their natural unions as sinful that does not help teach them to be responsible as they are.

No matter how much our politicians try to patch and fix the symptoms of the problem we have they have not addressed the original problem. In 1793 Alexander Hamilton set down our trade policies. These policies caused our nation to become great and wealthy by building a very solid middle class (which by the way was the governments primary source of tax revenue). In the mid 1980s a democratic president by the name of Clinton signed numerous bills that allowed American corporations to circumvent these policies. Today and for every generation to come we will see the results of this until it is repaired. Since the corporations and their stockholders are very influential I don't see that happening. The America you used to know no longer exists, nor will it ever exist again. In time we will have an uprising which will lead to dictatorship. This is what has happened to most if not all republics throughout history.

If we have learned anything from history, it is that we rarely learn anything from history.

And then the Queen will come and take over!! ;)

Seriously, I agree entirely, the State is totally invested in maintaining the Status Quo.

Hmmm...sounds to me like she got the job done where the men were not able or willing to...when men won't be men, women of character like Queen Isabella tend to come through...

I like the way she took a segmented and indebted land and reduced the crime rates and united the kingdom...sounds to me like she kicked some ass...kinda reminds me of an Isabella I know... ;)

Yeah, it was just that pesky Inquisition and Expulsion thing..... :P

I'm sure it is a lot higher by now. I remember and article from England bragging that their divorce rate was in steady decline, then at the end of the article they admitted that the number of people getting married was declining as well - meaning that the statistic was meaningless...fewer marrying...fewer divorcing...Our culture is on a similar path. It is simpler to cohabit, then when one is tired of the relationship simply pack your things and move in with your new lover...no government interference to worry about...can't say that I blame them for that at least...I am not very happy about government being involved in marriage myself.

In one sense this seems to be a positive element in that the people are actively exercising liberty by free and peaceable associations. Yet on the other hand there is a need for more saints to address the aspect of what it means to join together in a natural union.
