2018 Gallup poll

According to the most recent Gallup poll (news.gallup.com/poll/117328/marriage.aspx), polygamy is now viewed as morally acceptable by 19% of those polled, up 2% from last year. This is nearly 1/5 of the US population, and makes polygamy about as accepted as interracial marriage was in 1968.

PM support in the last 15 years has almost tripled and the rate of change in support seems to be increasing. Dramatic changes.

However I don't think we can take that whole poll too literally without some interpretation. For example, only 10% find adultery acceptable yet polls reliably show 40% of married men and women committing it. And the level of negativity towards cheaters is a whole lot less than it was decades ago.

Or, people find it slightly less important to get a marriage certificate after having a kid than if they plan to spend the rest of their lives together.
